Obituary of Nancy Tennant

Nancy Chalker Tennant, loving mother, wife, and companion, passed away peacefully in
Rochester, NY on August 15th, 2019 at the age of 83.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio on February 6th, 1936 to Lucille Allen and Everett Chalker,
Nancy was a prolific artist, her work included painting, printmaking, poetry and artist's
books. She was a graduate of Albion College (Michigan) and achieved her Masters of Fine
Arts from Edinboro University, Ebinboro, PA. Nancy's art is in many collections nationally
and internationally including the Metropolitan Museum, Whitney Museum of American
Art, Cleveland Art Institute, and Yale, in addition to private collections. Her poetry was
published in RHINO.
Nancy was predeceased in death by her loving husband James L. Tennant and survived by
her two sons Marcus and Jason (Terri) Tennant. She is also survived by her loving
companion Rex Vail and Vail Family; Amy (Jean Claude, Martha (Ken), Will (Monica) and
much loved grandchildren: Erica, Amanda, Eli, James, Sam, and Pablo.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Nancy's life on Saturday, October 19th, 2019
at 1:00 PM at the First Unitarian Church on Winton Road in Rochester, NY. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to Sierra Club.
