Jurjen John Hoomans

Spencerport-Passed away and was promoted Heavenward on September 13th, 2019 at age 85. Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Judith Rozelle Hoomans, son Joel Hoomans, daughters Jennifer (Barry) Blondale, Jessica Hoomans, grandchildren Austin, Aaron, Alex and Andrew Blondale.  Also survived by his siblings Edith Barton and John (Marla) Hoomans. Jurjen attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, Garrett Theological Seminary, Colgate Divinity School and earned a Masters in counseling from Iona College.  He served the United Methodist Church, as Protestant Chaplain at St. Mary's Hospital and at Bethel Christian Fellowship in Rochester, NY.  He was a pastor known for his innovative and pioneering spirit that touched many people.  He also had an unparalleled and much needed anointing for counseling men and he was a spiritual father to many. A memorial service will be held on October 5th 2019 at 1:00pm in the historic sanctuary at Bethel Christian Fellowship 321 East Ave, Rochester, NY .  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Erie Canal Light Transformations, Inc., a non-profit organized by Jurjen for the spread the gospel , 51 Upton Avenue, Spencerport, NY 14559.
