Obituary of Arthur L. Fischman

Arthur (Art) Fischman April 1, 2020 at age 71 in Webster of colon cancer. Art was a familiar face in the Rochester area having served as manager of seven Western Region OTB’s. His unique keen wit and thoughtful gift-giving endeared him to his many steadfast friends. Born in Passaic, New Jersey to Mollye and Herman Fischman. In third grade he chose the clarinet as his musical instrument. He was in the Clifton High School Marching Band, NJ All State Band and attended classes at Julliard in NYC. Art arrived in Rochester to pursue a career in music at Eastman. After graduation with a Bachelors of Music he was an alternate with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for several years. His love of horse racing, learned at his father’s side, led him to join OTB. Retiring after 30 years, Art applied his analytic skills to the game of blackjack, winning tournaments in the New York region and Las Vegas. He will be greatly missed by his dear friends, cousins, and brother, Irving. Please consider donations to Webster Comfort Care House.
