Obituary of Virginia LaMay

Virginia LaMay "Ginger" Rochester - August 18, 2020 age 66. Survived by her wife, Candace Gusel, brother Mike (Calla), sister Susan Carroll (Danny), many neices and nephews. Pre-deceased by her mother Virginia, father Harold (Ike), and sisters Linda and Karen. Ginger grew up in Massena NY, attended Canton ATC and moved to Rochester. She was a loving spirit that always had a smile and a sparkle in her eyes. She loved campfires, old movies, a good cheeseburger, her kitty, parties where she could mingle, her tons of friends, and most of all her family. She courageously persevered through years of acute heart disease and in 2001 was the first female heart transplant recipient at Strong Memorial Hospital, which gave her 19 more precious years. The last 5 years being the most precious, married to the love of her life. A memorial celebration will be held at a later time when we can give Ginger the send off/party she requested.
