Obituary of Joseph J. Tripi Jr.

 Joseph Tripi Jr. “Joe”
70, formerly of Brant, NY, passed away
peacefully on April 8, 2018, at Mount
Carmel House Hospice in Hilton, NY.
Joe was predeceased by his parents
Joseph and Esther Tripi of Brant, NY. He
is survived by his sister Bonita; brother
Robert; and many loving relatives and
friends. Joe was a standout athlete
at Lake Shore Central High School in
Angola, NY, where he helped lead the
Eagles in 1965 to their first unbeaten,
untied football season in school history.
He went on to play football, basketball
and lacrosse in Geneva, NY at Hobart
and William Smith Colleges where he
graduated in 1972. In 2005, Joe was
inducted into the Evans-Brant Sports
Hall of Fame. For several years, Joe
was employed by the State of New
York, where he worked with mentally
challenged children, including at the
former Canandaigua Transitional
Home. He was a strong supporter and
coordinator of the Special Olympics
in the Finger Lakes region. Upon
retirement, Joe took great pleasure
in playing golf, bowling, hunting and
enjoying time with former classmates
and other friends. When he wasn’t
on a golf course or hunting, he would
spend time tending to his large garden.
